October, 2016: Mkombozi Commercial Bank Plc, which is one of the fastest growing banks in Tanzania, has donated one hundred desks (100) to Ngarama Primary School following President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli’s call for well wishers and institutions to donate desks to schools.

The desks were handed over by the bank’s Managing Director, Mrs. Edwina A. Lupembe during a function held at the school and was also attended by the Kagera Regional Commissioner, Major General (rtd), Salum Kijuu who received the donation.

The MD said they were deeply touched by the desks issue and thought they should also chip in so as to ensure students have a proper learning atmosphere. “We at Mkombozi Commercial bank value education and support government’s efforts and initiatives especially this desks campaign. Previously we heard of incidents where students sat on the floor,” she said.

She appealed to the school administration to ensure that the desks are put into proper use so they can benefit as many students as possible and also called on students to work extra hard as they would now study in a good environment. She said in addition to giving back to the community, the bank has also been introducing various products that aim at assisting low income people and the most recent product is the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) loans.

“We launched this product recently and I want to make a special appeal to parents and teachers to join various saccos and self-help groups which will assist them to access these NHIF loans from Mkombozi Commercial bank,” she said adding that this will be a big relief as most students will now get medical treatment through their parents’ insurance.

She called on Kagera residents to visit the Mkombozi Commercial bank ;Bukoba Branch where they will get more details about the NHIF loans product. She also appealed to parents to open for their children the student’s account, which is among special products offered by her bank. Speaking during the function, the Kagera RC thanked the bank for the warm gesture and said it will really fill the gap. “This is really encouraging as it tells us that the call by our president has been well received and it is a clear indication that we all have the same vision of ensuring that our children get a conducive learning atmosphere,” he said.

He appealed to students and teachers to ensure they excel in exams so as to pay back the favor that was extended to them through the donation. Mkombozi Commercial Bank Plc (MKCB) was established in 2009 by Roman Catholic Church Dioceses and its institutions as a local initiative to support the emerging small, medium and large Tanzanian businesses for provision of financial services.
